Corner Hills

This is a closeup of the hills in the far corner of the layout. As you can see, I kind of went overboard with the rock castings. It was the first time trying them and I hypnotised myself. The hills were built up by sandwiching layers of pink insulation which were then sculptured with a hot wire tool and a rasping tool.
The foam was then covered with plaster cloth and painted with latex paint. The rocks were stained with combinations of water, alcohol, ink, and paint. Ground foam was used to create scrub brush and trees. Not too much detail was used to create the plant life, as these hills were created to look distant.
The space between the wall and the hills is a slot where the background painting will sit.
