Maiden Voyage Blues

We have only had our PUP home for one month, opened and closed three times, maiden voyage has not happened yet, and she is already broken, so to speak. Good grief!

Check out the photos below.

This is totally our fault. Instead of going slowly and not forcing when something seems not quite right we just slid the bed in anyway. Yes, I am embarrassed. What a bonehead! Bad news is: $750 for a new tent section (no way), or wait until the off season, unzip the corner section and send it in for repair for $150. Instead, I got out the repairing needle and heavy-duty thread and made my own repairs. Ugly, but at least the stitches will not show when it's up. I hate that we did that. Here's my surgery job.

Lesson learned! But wait - it gets better! In the photo below notice the scratches in the upper right doorframe. We were forcing the issue again because the door would not go easily into the frame. There was a quarter inch above the door on the left side and no clearance on the right. Was the roof not straight? I stood back and looked, then measured. Sure enough the roof was one and one-quarter inches lower in the back. We took it back to the dealer who luckily repaired the issued in 20 minutes by tensioning the rear cables. He said the rear cables were probably stretched a bit because of the weight of the AC. Anyway, the roof rises on the level now and the door goes in fine. Are you still with me? Notice the missing snap post in the photo below.

That happened when we removed the curtain to untangle it. Bad thing is the snap post is anchored into another expensive piece of tenting. Now I am wheezing! What have I gotten into? Luckily we have a fabric store nearby. When went and purchase a pair of grommet pliers and installed a new snap post. Whew! The repaired snap is in the photo below.

No, we're not done yet! I saved the best for last. Someone is going to have to provide some advise on this one, because we have not idea how this happened. Here's how the bracket on the bottom of the slide-outs is supposed to look.

Here's a couple of shots of how ours looked - why I truly have no idea. We noticed it because the support post would not lock into position.

Now I am looking for a bridge to jump off of. No way I was going back to the dealer again. I removed the post and bracket. After 5 minutes of hammering on my anvil this is about a straight as I could get it.

Here is where I had to climb near the edge to hold these nuts so my wife could remove the screws.

Anyway, the bracket is repaired, but it's not the first time one was been mangled. Please, if anyone knows what is going on with these brackets under the slide-outs, let me know. Anyway, all is repaired, the LP tanks are full, and we are scheduled for our maiden voyage this Monday (June 22) up to Big Bear, CA for two days. Below she is resting after a hard day to surgery and repair. Send up a camping pray, please. Thanks.
