Dear GNO,
I like your site and I will go on more often to check it out. Loved the camping pictures. So I got on GNO to tell you that the Lord make a way for me to finally get a job offer. Here is the deal I saw on a web site that if you are over 40 chances are you might not get the job you apply for. Or if you have had more than two jobs in less than six years this is another reason you could be turned down. In my case I fit both elements of that profile.
Also, most salaried positions are flown only because by law they must advertise the position before it is filled by an internal applicant. This is why I have been out of a job for so long. Unfortunately because of my age I am at the end of my rope in my profession and also because of my race.
So God finally told me go on and do what you love, and that is helping people in need. I will complete an on-line certification course for Social Worker. Once I have my old salary-level back I will leave the foods industry, never to return. I have plans for a book about being a black man in the culinary arts and what we go through.
In the mean time, the good news is I finally got a job and start on this Monday at 6:00AM. It is a Casino in Dayton NV, about 25 minutes from my home. The new owners have promised to treat me well and take care of me financially as well. They are already starting to remodel and also are planning on opening a steak house in three weeks.
I really did not want to take it because of the starting wage, but if I try to hold out to get the wage I am used to I would be on unemployment for more than a year for sure. This would suck because my wife is already going crazy. So I start out low in pay but in as little as sixty days I start to go up, I was already told. After that the sky's the limit. I was told by Hank the man that hired me that if the owner likes you he will tell you and I quote, " I want you to retire with me."
He told this to Hank's wife who already has an executive secretary position. People are team players, and my future seems bright here.
You never know what could happen. All I know is, I got a JOB!!! This is GNO for which I thank God. I believe this is where he wants me to be for now. I know he will continue to watch over me.
